The art of brewing GREAT coffee!

When you spend your money on gourmet coffee, you want to get your money's worth. If you have ever been less than pleased with the coffee you have purchased, there is a secret to brewing great coffee, and we want to share it with our friends (compliments of White House Coffee). Brewing excellent coffee is simple if you follow these easy but important steps:

  1. Start with fresh, COLD water.
  2. Measure water and coffee accurately. Use one standard coffee measure (10 to 11 grams) of ground coffee to each standard coffeee measuring cup of (6 ounces) of cold water.
  3. Be sure your coffeemaker is clean. Residues and traces of stale coffee oils interfere with flavor. Most coffee lovers these days prefer the drip method of brewing. Whatever type of coffee brewer you select, be sure to use the grind recommended for it.
  4. Be sure water temperature is correct. Bring water to a boil, remove from heat for one minute or so until it stops boiling. That's when it is about 200 degrees (F), just below the boiling point -- and the ideal brewing temperature.
Now you can taste how excellent fine coffee can be.
